Jose Acosta

Jose Acosta is a music educator with nine years of teaching experience in both the marching and concert percussion arts. Jose studied percussion at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley under the mentorship of Dr. Mark Ramirez where he earned his Bachelors in Music Education with a concentration in percussion. It was during that time where he marched snare drum in the Timbre indoor drumline for two seasons (2016, 2017) and competed in events such as PASIC (2017) and International Percussion Institute (2017).
Jose currently teaches at Nikki Rowe High School where he has taught for four years. During his time there, the percussion studio has performed and competed in numerous contests receiving accolades and awards in both the marching and concert percussion activities. Some of these performances include Pithacks Virtual Ensemble contest (2021), Roma Gladiator Drumline contest (2019, 2022), and the Valley Percussion Festival (2022).
