Hector is a freelance active performer originally from the RioGrande Valley. Regularly performing with various musical groups in a variety of genres and venues, Hector is a part of the Jon Joanis trio, a jazz trio in which he plays drums, and La Candela, a salsa orchestra of which he is the pianist. He has collaborated with many local projects, including the RGV Jazz Collective and their house band, the Odyssey Jazz Trio. 

As an educator, Hector has been actively involved with the Sharyland High School Percussion Studio, regularly teaching the drumline for marching and indoor seasons since 2016. He also regularly arranges different genres of music for percussion ensemble which the Sharyland Percussion Studio performs at the yearly concerts held on campus. Hector was an active part of the Indoor drumline program “Timbre” where he fulfilled his duties as Assistant Battery Coordinator 2016-2017.

As a performer, Hector was a part of the Genesis Drum and Bugle Corp in 2010, its first year of existence where he marched a season on quads. From 2012-2014 he was a member of the UNT Green Brigade, where he participated in the drumline. In 2013 he performed at PASIC with the UNT Quad ensemble, where the ensemble earned a first place in the Small Ensemble category.
