Carlos is a graduate of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley where he studied Percussion and earned his Bachelors in Music Education under Dr. Mark Ramirez. Currently, he serves as the Percussion Instructor at Veterans Memorial High School, assisting with the VMHS Marching Band, the VMHS Honor and Symphonic Band Percussion sections, the VMHS Percussion Ensemble, and the Mission Junior High School Percussion studio (6th, 7th, & 8th grades).

During his first full-year at Veterans Memorial, the VMHS percussion studio has performed and competed in numerous contests receiving accolades and awards in concert percussion, including 3rd place at TCGC State Championships Percussion Concert A Class (2023).
